What is the CNG Kit?
Understand the Word CNG Kit in short:- The term CNG has been addressed as a short name for Compressed Natural Gas, and Kit is a general term that can be used for any kind of bundle of items. For example, a mechanic has a lot of tools to repair your vehicle and we all call his tools a tool kit.
There are many items/components needed to convert any petrol/diesel vehicle to CNG which is available in a box in the Indian market and this box of components is called CNG Kit. In India, CNG Kit manufacturers/importers need certification of the International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT) or the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI).
Types of CNG Kits & Differences
There are three types of CNG Kits available in the Indian market which are given as follows:-
- Conventional CNG Kits
- Sequential CNG Kits
- Direct Injection CNG Kits
Understand the difference in short:-
Conventional CNG Kits:- Specially manufactured for carburetor engines.
Sequential CNG Kits:- Specially manufactured for MPFI engines.
Direct Injection CNG Kits:- Specially manufactured for TDI and GDI engines.
Understand the difference in depth:-
Where the conventional CNG kits are actually for the carburetor vehicles and these are not recommended for MPFI and GDI engines, the latest technology vehicles.
On the other hand, Sequential CNG Kits are highly recommended for MPFI (Multi Point Fuel Injection) technology vehicles because sequential is the digital technology and computerized CNG kits that do not harm the vehicles. The Sequential CNG Kits are manufactured based on the engine control unit (ECU).
Direct Injection is an advanced technology specially made for the TDI (Turbocharged Direct Injection) and GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection) engines. TDI technique is used in diesel engines and GDI technique is used in petrol engines.
